MILAN: Pakistani boxer Zohaib Rasheed went missing in the Italian city of Milan, where the Paris Olympics boxing qualifiers are currently taking place.
Rasheed, who won bronze in Asia and hoped for the Olympics, vanished from his hotel near Milan last Saturday.
His coach, Arshad Hussain, was away for meetings when Rasheed disappeared. Rasheed left some stuff in his room and told fellow boxers he’d train upstairs due to the cold. But he never met them.

He took his passport and room key before leaving. The coach quickly told the police and gave them Rasheed’s photo. Rasheed’s fight was on Sunday, but he never showed up.
This isn’t the first time Pakistani athletes vanished in Europe. Suleman Baloch and Nazirullah went missing after the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Swimmer Faizan Akbar vanished before the World Swimming Championship in Hungary in June 2022.
The Pakistan Boxing Federation told the organisers about Rasheed. They’re worried about athletes disappearing because of money problems.
Rasheed had won bronze in Asian competitions and fought bravely in the Asian Games.
