LAHORE (92 News) – Following a stirring performance of its internationally acclaimed play ‘Bulha’ on the opening day of Faiz Festival, Ajoka presented another inspiring special performance for an international audience at Alhamra.
‘Anhi Mai Da Sufna’ (A Blind Old Woman’s Dream) is a play inspired from true stories of generations which did not migrate in 1947 and chose their beloved motherland rather than families.
The play intertwines the stories of two characters. Old Mai Janki who lives in Amritsar but longs to visit her village in Pakistan and Ustad Rangu, who chose to stay back in Lahore but desperately wants to attend his granddaughter’s wedding in Amritsar. Written by Shahid Nadeem and originally directed by veteran Indian director Usha Ganguli, the play was entertaining and gripping despite its somber theme. It highlighted the human spirit of resilience and hope despite the traumatic events of 1947.
Razia Malik played the old woman Mai Janki and Naseem Abbas was the Master Dyer, Ustad Rangu.
Film ‘Taxali Gate’ to hit screens on Friday
Lollywood new Urdu feature film Taxali Gate filmed in the background of the historical area of Lahore, the cultural capital of Pakistan, is ready to hit screens on coming Friday (16th February).
The film is a based on an interesting a murder mystery plot and is being presented by Distribution Club. Directed by director Abu Aleeha, the film features Ayesha Umar, Yasir Hussain, Nayer Ejaz, Maherbano, Iffat Umar, Babar Ali, Iftikhar Thakur, Umar Aslam and Shehryar Cheema in leading roles. The film’s promo, dialogues and songs have already gained popularity on social media and the film viewers are eagerly waiting for the film.
Ajoka Institute Director Nirvaan Nadeem welcomed the guests from Sikh Lense, California. Popular media personality Iqrarul Hassan and Barrister Huma Price from UK paid glowing tributes to Ajoka and its contribution for promoting peace and goodwill.
The play was performed in collaboration with Lahore Arts Council and Indus Heritage Group.
