LAHORE: In a recent development, eleven students have been accused of resorting to illegal means during the English paper of the Matriculation Examination conducted by the Punjab Education Board. The incident has sparked concerns over the integrity of the examination process.

According to reports from Lahore, five candidates were apprehended while attempting to sit the exam on behalf of others. This discovery was made by vigilant authorities during the examination process itself.

A spokesperson for the Education Board in Lahore confirmed the incident, highlighting the importance of closely monitoring examination centres to prevent such malpractices.

In response to this alarming situation, the head of the Punjab Boards Committee of Chairmen has emphasised the need for stringent measures to maintain the sanctity of examinations. Expressing concern over the incident, he urged for increased vigilance and oversight at examination centres across the province.

Furthermore, he called for swift and decisive action against those involved in facilitating cheating, commonly referred to as the “booti mafia”. This move is aimed at deterring any future attempts to compromise the examination process and uphold the credibility of the education system.
